Aleksander Pepeljajev and the Kinetic Theatre (Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Amsterdam, Tallinn)
“Old Woman” is a production that creates a unique space for dance theatre, animation, comics, Daniil Harms and a film made in real time.
Several cameras, the interactive dialogue between a dancer and his image, improv, non-linear animation and real-time image processing techniques have equally important roles.
“…from my point of view, “Old Woman” is the quintessence of media theatre.” (Konstantin Bohorov)
ME: Shall we buy some vodka and go to my place? I live nearby. What do you say?
SHE (playfully): Well, why not, by all means!
ME: Then let’s go.
… and suddenly I remember that there’s a dead old woman lying on the floor in my room (Harms)
Now and again: the Kinetic Theatre materialises in virtual auditoriums and cyber salons.
It’s amazing how brazenly the avant-garde of Russian contemporary dance once again crosses the border of modern media theatre. Without presenting a passport and with bags full of contraband.
