Different legends connected to the Holy Grail form the bases of this performance.
This is technically a very complicated show three video screens that fill the
whole stage are in use together with the synchronously recorded sound and
video material and actors moving on the stage. Screens that are placed like an
altarpiece expand the stage in a distinctive way allowing activities started in
various scenes to continue smoothly.
“The Grail!” is a performance dealing with faith, hope and love.
We meet devotees coming from the court of King Arthur who are moving towards the
Supreme through many situations and temptations known from the myths. The supreme is
perfect beauty for one, for another it is enormous wealth or supreme peace and harmony.
Although the majority of the knights instinctively know that finding the
Supreme will be the end, it does not lessen the eagerness of their search. Will
the sought be found or the aim lost in the whirl of the adventures? We can
say that all the characters find their Grail in one way or another, but the
found one is not the one they had expected. It may be that the search itself is the
Grail. From which point does the flowering turn into withering?
Is it in the power of a man to recognize it? How to differentiate necessary and unnecessary?
Is compromising allowed and when, how many sins are permitted?
These are the questions that the characters come across in this piece.
